A catholic tradition for a pre-lent party, Basel has the largest Fasnacht celebration in Switzerland. The party starts at 4 in the morning and continues for three days. A parade fills the city-tractors pulling wildly decorated fruit stalls. Masked people throw candy, oranges, the occasional Proseco bottle(politely handed), flowers or Achtung! a faceful of confetti(Räppli).
