David's interview started the day. David's fancy interview shirt covered in poop ended the day. In between we visited Bern, city of bears.

Unfortunately the last bear died about a month ago and the empty bear pits and informative bear movie are all tourists can now visit. And a surprising amount of tourists do. I suppose most are uninformed. David asked the guide quite optimistically..."How many bears are here?" "Keine" Yeah, well.

The famous clock tower seen in this picture chimes hourly. A crowd of tourists gathered round to this somewhat underwhelming event. The crowd was still standing when we left...but seeing it was 7 after the hour we were pretty sure that was it. Nice clock, though.

Einstein worked in the city as a patent clerk and developed his Special Theory of Relativity in Bern. His small apartment looked out on a cobbled street. Window boxes of bright red geraniums, a Swiss tradition, mirrored across the divide. There is no kitchen in Einstein's house. Weird.

One highlight of the trip was the food at Tibits, a vegetarian buffet chain related to Zürich's Hiltl. You really must try their coconut-tofu balls. MMMmmm good.
